Live Just1 customer site: 247autoelectric.co.za

What’s the best way for a mechanic or auto electrician in South Africa to get a website?

A workshop site needs your address with a map, trading hours, the makes you work on and call and WhatsApp buttons, on one page that loads fast on a phone. Just1 builds that over WhatsApp for R97 once-off, with a preview within 24 hours and the first 3 months online included, then R97 every 3 months, or R199/month with your own .co.za and changes on WhatsApp. There is no booking system: customers call or WhatsApp you. DIY builders start at R29/month if you’d rather build it yourself, and South African freelancers from R999 once-off.

A car that won’t start can’t wait

Some jobs can wait for next month. A flat battery at 7am can’t. Call-out work is where a website and a Google ad pay off fastest, because the customer is searching with the phone already in their hand.

Painkiller or vitamin?

A vitamin is a job people know they should do some day, like a service. A painkiller is a job they need done now: the car won’t start, the charging light is on, the truck is stuck on site. Nobody shops around for a painkiller. They search and call. Google says 70% of mobile searchers have called a business straight from the search results (Google and Ipsos, 2013, not South African data). The timing shows up here too: “tow truck” searches in South Africa averaged 82.9 in December against 66.7 in October from 2019 to 2025.

The first one to answer gets the job

A Harvard Business Review study of 1.25 million sales leads in the US found that firms who tried to reach a customer within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to have a real conversation as those who tried even an hour later. On a breakdown the window is shorter still. Your website’s only job is to get the driver talking to you in seconds, and your job is to answer.

How a Just1 site turns a search into a call

Every Just1 site is one page built for a phone, so there is nothing to dig through. WhatsApp is used by 92.5% of South African internet users every month, so it sits next to the call button.

  • Call and WhatsApp buttons at the top and again down the page
  • The WhatsApp message already typed, so they only press send
  • Your hours, the areas you cover and “we come to you” easy to find
  • A fast single page with no menus, so it opens quickly on mobile data

Google search ads suit call-out work

When someone types “auto electrician near me”, a search ad puts your number at the top of that page at the moment they need you. You pay per click, and you can show ads only in the areas you cover and the hours you answer. In LocaliQ and WordStream’s 2026 benchmarks (mostly US advertisers), car repair search ads converted 15.51% of clicks, against 8.18% across all industries. For 24/7 Auto Electric we split the ads by job (starters and alternators, diagnostics, trucks and earth-moving machines, power windows) and sent each ad to a page about that job, with call and WhatsApp buttons. The ads don’t have to run forever: auto electrical work repeats, from fleets and workshops to the same car again, so every job an ad brings in is a customer who can call you back and refer others.

  • Boost, R297 once-off: a 7-day Facebook and Instagram ad for your Just1 website, with about R200 of that spent on the ad. After the 7 days we send you the numbers. Google ads are not part of Boost.

“Mechanic near me” peaks over the holidays

Battery searches follow the cold

Searches for “car battery” average 74.7 in June against 57.0 in October, and the top month fell between May and July in 6 of the 7 years from 2019 to 2025. The AA advises a battery check before winter, especially if the battery is more than three years old. List battery, alternator and starter work plainly.

In-warranty cars can come to you

Since 1 July 2021, Competition Commission guidelines say car makers may not obstruct a driver’s choice of service provider, dealer or independent, and independent workshops must record in-warranty work in the service book. If you stamp service books, say so on your site.

Scammers copy real workshops online

MIWA warns that fake suppliers use professional-looking websites, Facebook pages and paid ads, sometimes with a real workshop’s address, to sell engines and gearboxes that never arrive. A real address, workshop photos and a number that answers set you apart.

A physical address matters

The Motor Industry Ombudsman says disputes with online-only businesses are hard to process where no physical address is available. Advice on the RMI’s website tells drivers to check accreditation, look up the workshop’s Google star rating and ask friends and family.

South Africans check reviews first

PwC found 82% of South African consumers look for reviews to check a company before buying, against a global average of 70%. Search engines are how 36.5% of internet users come across new brands and services.

A site we built

24/7 Auto Electric

247autoelectric.co.za

A mobile auto electrician and mechanic that comes to the car, based around Midrand. The page lists nine services, from diagnostics, alternators, starters and wiring to computer boxes, trucks and earth-moving machines. A three-step “How it works” explains the call-out, and the areas section names Midrand, Centurion and Sandton first, then Pretoria, Johannesburg, Fourways and Randburg. Tap-to-call and WhatsApp buttons repeat down the page, and the WhatsApp message is already typed.

Google search ads we set up, 16 April to 23 June 2026

R15,097.60

ad spend

2,163

clicks on the ads

657

tracked taps on call or WhatsApp

R22.98

per tracked tap

From 24/7 Auto Electric’s Google Ads account. A tracked tap is a tap on the site’s call or WhatsApp button after an ad click. One person can tap both, so these are not a count of customers or booked jobs. Google also counted 26 calls from the call button on the ads.

The owner tells us he was struggling for work before the ads. We haven’t spent anything on ads for him since 23 June, and three months later he tells us he’s still busier than he can handle. He puts it down to the customers from those two months: they kept his number, come back and send others his way. Ads start the flywheel; repeat and referral work keeps it turning.
